Happiness and wellness is a mindset! – BY COACH WAYNE DAWSON, BASED IN THE STATES

💥Happiness and wellness is a mindset!

💢Fellas!!! Get out of your head!

Researchers, philosophers, religious and political leaders, politicians and scientists have long known…

💡Your mindset directly affects your state of happiness and overall wellbeing.

Stop worrying about missed opportunities! They cannot be undone.

Never invite anxiety by being fixated with the future. It is uncertain.

📌Instead do these things:

✅Surround your self with positive-vibes people and environment.

✅Exercise consistently to keep your body (and mind) attuned and charged with optimal vitality.

✅Eat fresh, wholesome food to fuel and sustain your life-activities.

✅Everything is not about you. Free yourself from personalizing “stuff.” Less baggage to carry.

✅Be grateful for all your “gifts.” Gratitude occupies space, replacing scarcity and lack.

Follow me for the continuation in today’s follow-up post!

See you at the top

I was motivated to set up True Tings when I realised through my discussions with the elder community on my podcast (Cooked_food_podcast on instagram & spotify), that many were isolated, lonely, and anxious about the future due to the recent pandemic and guidelines for socialising.

We are tackling the loneliness we have in our communities by holding bimonthly events for our older population where I will provide a range of Caribbean cuisine, a networking segment for the attendees to sit 1:1, talk and connect amongst themselves with questions as aid for their conversation to make their interactions as fruitful as possible.

INFORMATION ABOUT SERENA FRANKLIN CAN BE FOUND BELOW

SERENA FRANKLIN CeMap

Senior Mortgage Broker

Having worked in the mortgage industry for more than 10 years, it has been a roller coaster, to say the least. I have seen the peaks and troughs of UK house prices and witnessed first-hand how lenders react in both scenarios.

In 2017, I achieved the Commercial Success Award and I was shortlisted for the Woman in Finance Award in 2018. While these awards reflect my hard work and enthusiasm for the mortgage industry, nothing beats the highly positive feedback from my clients, which can be seen via Google reviews. I am very much client-centric and take pride in the service I deliver.

It’s extremely rewarding to be an integral part of the real-life dreams and ambitions of my clients, particularly when we’re able to overcome what seemed to be impossible to beat obstacles. The mortgage sphere is constantly changing as well as evolving and no case is the same, making my career an ever-learning experience.

I love to travel and enjoy an action-packed trip away, some of the activities I enjoy include snorkelling, kayaking and tubing. I have a strong fear of heights and I hope to overcome this one day.

NNABÖ: INSIGHTS ON EFIK WAR DANCE MASQUERADE – WRITTEN BY HOLYNS HOGAN

NNABÖ: INSIGHTS ON EFIK WAR DANCE MASQUERADE

© Holyns Hogan, 2023

Definitively, Nnabö is an Efik popular ancient war [dance] masquerade that is naturally characterized by “guided violent attributes” that can extremely be fatal, ghastly or destructive if not well checked by its chieftains, law or tradition. Arguably, Nnabö behaviour is usually spiritually orchestrated by Nnabö deity (Abasi Nnabö)/ mbukpo Nnabö (Nnabö ancestors), under the influence of the heavy alcoholism, incantations, invocations/libation that traditionally wakes and sustains its “wild spirit” with heavy, serious and fast drumming, singing and dancing excitements.

Historically, the origin of Nnabö, though shrouded in mystery, with very little or no literature to guide interested researchers in oral or written form, traces amongst other accounts to an unascertained origin in the ancient war dance used by a famous Efik prince, seadog/ warlord that later became King Archibong II, Eyo Asiböñ Mminika and his men to celebrate their subjugation of the Tom Shott Island pirates, the killing and returning to old Calabar with the head of their king and NKANDA war deity of Obodom Etak Ukim in the late 1800s.

Accordingly, some critics argue that if truly Nnabö origin has anything to do with Obodom Etak Ukim and the Isangheli war deity called Nkanda, as implied in the referred historical account, it follows logically that the name Nnabö is originally of Efut Usakedet (Isangheli) descent. The rest of the story is deliberately left as an academic challenge/ motivation to opposing critics and historians to prove otherwise and in doing so, provide more useful debates and knowledge about Nnabö history for future reference/research learning purposes.

Traditionally, Nnabö comes in variant fearsome yet colourful types. They are mostly arranged in no specific order except deliberately set for a cultural carnival parade, formal road show, public, state or national arts and culture festival/contest.

Nnabö usually comprises a choric force of initiates/admitted talented male drummers and singers, the EKÖÑ (eka Nnabö, mkpökpörö, Nnabö, ebua itök- the forerunner), “swords men”/traditional fencers (mkparawa ukwa), “Nnabö flag men”, “spiritual light/juju plate bearer”, chief priest and/or ayabom- “the heavily charcoaled physical reps of the ancestors”.

On the usual “rectangular board head” of every Nnabö masquerade, traditionally sits a real /improvised human skull, adorned with cowries (mbamba), ndam (dyed raffia) and mkpatari (cautus spectabilis) and/or ntinya believed to carry the presence of the ancestors and the gods of Nnabö as spiritual protectors, guide and energizers. Cowries and other “traditional pictographic materials” are equally used to design “Nnabö face cover”.

“LEAD ME NOT INTO TEMPTATION” WRITTEN BY OLUMIDE HOLLOWAY

Are you okay?” She asked as she stopped by his side.

He stood upright from leaning on the railings to look at her.

He nodded, “yes, I’m good.”

“I noticed you walked away from the group. And I was wondering why are you not mixing with the ladies or gisting with your guys.”

He shrugged his shoulders, “sometimes I prefer my own company.”

She smiled at him, “would like to be part of your company.”

He smiled back, “that would be nice, but someone is actively occupying that role,” he said and flashed his wedding ring.

She stretched her hand and held his left hand gently, caressing his wedding ring finger. “I’m aware of that, and I’m still interested.”

“Haa, but there are plenty fine, single guys here that would love to be yours.”

“It’s you I want. I like your gentle, quiet nature. I find it fascinating and attractive.”

“Lead me not into temptation, I can find it myself.”

She moved closer to him and held his chin with one of her hands.

“I promise you, it won’t be a waste of sin.”

She held his eyes for a moment, then she moved her head closer and closer….

Signed
