BLACK HISTORY MONTH EVENT 2015 AT UK HOUSE OF PARLIAMENT- ORGANISED BY TONY FERNANDEZ FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW
On Tuesday the 20th of October 2015, Tony Tokunbo Eteka Fernandez organised A Black History Month Celebrations at The UK House of Parliament for the third year in a row.
The Published Author & Poet, Multi-International Award Winner and Founder for Africa4u has always been passionate about promoting and showcasing the true life and success stories of Africans around the world and has organised African intiatives in The Uk, Germany, Holland, Belgium and Eastern Europe.
He has also visited eighteen european countries and established a strong relationship with african communities in many of the countries.
According to him. “Black History Month” is a reminder to us to Know our history, Tell our stories and use the past to set example for the future”
Tony is also very passionate about community cohesion and this was also reflected at The Black History Month celebrations at parliament
, Guests attended from many countries: Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Jamaica, Barbados, India, Hungary, Ireland and the UK.
Live music entertainment was provided to guests from Deoba Authentic and Jennifer Sobola, as well as speeches from a cross-party selection of MPs.
Some of the other keynote speakers at the event included:
- Tony Warner– CEO and Founder of Black History Walks speaking on ‘2000 years of black presence in Europe’;
- Charmaine Simpson, Director of Black History Studies, speaking on ‘The history of black people in London before 1948’;
- Ibrahim Asante, Founder of Significant International Training Systems speaking on ‘Black royalty: connecting in harmony for peace, progress and prosperity’;
- Dr James Heartfield, Lecturer, Historian and Author speaking on ‘The advantages and benefits of diversity in modern Britain’
Alok Sharma said: “A big thank you to Tony Fernandez for once again making this fantastic celebration of African history and culture in Parliament a possibility. The event provided a great opportunity to celebrate diversity and all of the benefits it brings to Britain and it was wonderful to hear so many positive messages from the speakers.”
Tony Fernandez said: “It was a profound privilege to organise the black history month celebrations at the UK Houses of Parliament for the third year in a row. This has been our best Black History celebrations so far, I was humbled and overwhelmed. The journey continues- we need to continue to tell our stories, tell our history and exhibit the strengths that embrace the gentle strings of love.”
