HOW MUCH DO YOU KNOW ABOUT BRADFORD 4 BETTER ?

OUR STORY

In April 2019, a group of neighbours led by Inayah Sher decided to clean up their street. That clean up soon became a weekly event, and started to include the neighbourhood.

The word spread rapidly and suddenly streets across Bradford were having weekend clean-ups and Bradford 4 Better (B4B) was born.

Over the next few months the group began campaigns to raise awareness of other concerns that the residents of Bradford faced, such as dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour, and the rise in drug related crime.

B4B began evolving into a pressure group and grew exponentially, highlighting the grassroots frustration that many Bradford residents felt. Soon the media, Council, and many public and private organisations took notice and B4B soon gained a reputation for being the go to organisation if you needed something to change.

As the membership of B4B grew, so did the scope of the work the group was involved with and B4B evolved organically into a citizen led community action movement.

Were it all began…
Bradford 4 Better was formed in Spring 2019, initially as a pressure group to highlight the many concerns of the residents of Bradford and inspire positive change. The group has rapidly evolved into a citizen led community action movement to inform, inspire and empower the residents of Bradford to make positive changes for the betterment of Bradford and its communities.

On 17th of September 2020 Bradford 4 Better was formally incorporated at Companies House as a Community Interest Company called Bradford 4 Better CIC.

Our group objectives:
To work within and improve the area known as Bradford (Postal Code BD) for the benefit of the inhabitants of this area.
To engage and encourage the wider community in activities to better Bradford.
To aid and facilitate a safe, law abiding environment throughout Bradford, for citizens, visitors and our members.
To help empower the residents of Bradford by making Bradford’s service providers accountable to the Bradford public.
To help educate and engage the people of Bradford to take ownership of their actions and their responsibility as citizens to make Bradford better for future
To liaise with other voluntary sector bodies, local authorities, UK government departments and agencies, and other bodies, all with a view to furthering the association’s objects.
To pursue our core objectives (as outlined in the document ‘Bradford 4 Better Core Objectives 2020’)

TASHAN HENDRICKS – CREATIVE BRAND STRATEGIST AND WRITER FROM JAMAICA

I am a Jamaican marketer and brand strategist whose career started as an artist manager and event producer. With an uncanny balance of left and right brain, I leverage my ability to conceptualize, create and communicate, with the ability to organize, coordinate and execute to guarantee great results every time.

I have worked as a brand consultant at different levels across all sectors of the Jamaican Creative Industries – music, theatre, advertising, events, media. From crafting communications plans for the Queen of Reggae, Marcia Griffiths and Jamaica’s Songwriting Icon, Bob Andy to producing radio programmes at the RJRGleaner Group, I have gathered a wealth of experience along her career.

For the last 6 years I have focused most of my energies as an advertising creative director and strategist to transform brands like Grace, Digicel, PNP, JPS, and NCB. As a consultant, I have been instrumental to the strategic launch and growth of several businesses and startups including Muse 360, ICPI, Nanook Enterprises, Rose Cottage Farms and The LAB Ltd.

My years of experience and vast network makes me an ideal leader or addition to any team. I am considered a walking directory and compass for navigating Jamaica’s evolving orange economy by colleagues.
