Aro Leonard, a development communications, social transformation and broadcast expert, was Head of External Relations at BBC Media Action, where I managed a team to place the organisation as the development partner of choice. With one of the richest media contact base and goodwill in Nigeria, I could be your “to-go person” for development media and media relations. I am currently involved in setting up development focused radio and TV stations as well as communications support for various organizations.
As part of BBC Media Action’s leadership team, I played focal roles in all business development – proposal, design, implementation and review processes, adding value for money strategies with high prpject success rate. I was responsible for designing and delivering all capacity building activities and I interfaced with donor agencies and development partners on Governance, Health and Resilience projects.
Earlier, I produced the award-winning youth reproductive health magazine show “Flava” and the largest HIV Spots campaign in Africa. I was Music Producer on the epic HIV focused TV series “Wetin Dey?” and produced environment and climate change outputs. I previously worked as a producer with Aso Radio and Internews Network, where I designed and produced “Just Jisting” – a ground breaking youth talk show that opened up the air space to engaging discussions on reproductive health issues.
In 1999 I founded “Kleverest Scenta” – Nigeria’s foremost media volunteer scheme which has produced achievers in various fields. My online pages have over the years been a source of development information and career guidance. I am also an expert in Environmental and Resources Planning, a music composer, and a sound reinforcement instructor. I use my skills and links to support development causes and transform lives.
