Tony has interviewed high profile Members of Parliament, Distinguished celebrities and some of Africas best musicians including Ivonne Chaka Chaka and Kanda Bongoman.
He has also been a guest on BBC Radio on numerous occasions to discuss the community cohesion events he organises at UK House of Parliament and also to recite some of his published work in memory of Nelson Mandela, 50 Years Anniversary of The race relations act and major community issues. Tony has also a Guest on popular Radio stations in Nigeria and The States
In the last few years he has been very passionate about Youth empowerment, community cohesion and cultural intelligence.
Tony was born in South London and has lived in several parts of England and Nigeria . He started writing at the tender age of nine, a habit he expressed with creative enthusiasm. Tony writes Poetry, short stories and proverbs on personal development. He is currently working on his 4th book which will also be his first novel. He is also into Public Speaking at Special events and Social functions and is a Mentor for young people in the UK Community.
He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Lagos, Nigeria in English and World Literature. He later went on to attain a teaching qualification at The Frances King International Training Institute, South Kensington London, it was here he studied Teaching English as a Foreign Language. He also studied Web Design at The City University in London.
He published his first book in June 1999 called “The Beauty in the Dark” (A Collection of Poetry which received critical acclamation in many circles around the world). .Tony’s aim in life is to inspire the young generation and to encourage the youth to make the very best of their dreams and aspirations,. He published a 2nd book in June 2009 called ” The Sound of Running Water” – A Family gift book of proverbs and quotations on Personal Development and Positive Thinking .
In December 2009, he published his 3rd book called “One Moment of Peace”.- A collection of Poetry inspired by personal experiences and spiritual growth.
Besides the fact that the Artist has won International online awards, he is mostly inspired by Life experience, love, music and cultural awareness. He was Resident Poet at the 5th London Poetry Festival in 2009 and has been a guest on BBC Radio on very many occassions including The famous Anne Diamond Show. He has also been a guest on a few SKY TV stations and several International Radio Stations around The World
On Saturday, I had the privilege of delivering my TEDx talk at TEDxHeaton.
My talk, Who Decides When You’re Successful?, explored transformation and how redefining success based on our own inner compass can reshape the way we live, think, and grow.
As a single mum to a 16-year-old, and someone who has often navigated multiple responsibilities, I’m regularly asked how I “juggle it all.”
The truth is, when responsibility starts early, it doesn’t feel like juggling. It becomes rhythm. It becomes life.
This journey hasn’t been about forcing outcomes. It’s been about growth, lived experience, and learning to trust that inner compass along the way.
What stayed with me most was the connection in the room—sharing a message that clearly resonated with real people, in real time.

The path from white belt to black belt represents the core of the black belt mindset, which is fundamentally based on Shoshin—a Japanese Zen concept meaning “beginner’s mind.” This empowering philosophy invites individuals to cultivate openness, curiosity, and a non-judgmental attitude across all areas of life, including work, personal relationships, and self-exploration. In a society that often prioritizes expertise and immediate solutions, Shoshin acts as a crucial counterbalance, highlighting the importance of fresh perspectives.
As Raj Soren explains in Black Belt Mindset for Life and Business, “In the beginner’s mind, there are many possibilities.” This observation emphasizes the vast potential that arises when we view challenges and experiences with curiosity and a willingness to learn. Embracing a beginner’s mindset can unlock creativity, improve problem-solving skills, support personal growth, and foster healthier relationships. Additionally, it significantly contributes to mental well-being and resilience, providing a refuge from the pressures related to achieving perfection and high performance.
By incorporating Shoshin into our lives, we foster clarity and creativity whether learning new skills, transitioning careers, or striving to be more present in our daily activities. This mindset shifts our focus from seeking immediate results to embracing exploration and understanding, enriching our engagement with various pursuits.
Key principles of Shoshin include:
Questioning Assumptions: A key tenet of the beginner’s mind is the readiness to challenge established beliefs and traditional wisdom. By regularly asking “Why?” and “What if?”, we can discover new insights and options that we may have previously overlooked.
Embracing Learning: Adopting a continuous learning mindset encourages us to view every experience—good or bad—as a valuable opportunity for growth. This perspective allows us to enjoy the journey of learning rather than focusing solely on outcomes.
Releasing Ego: By setting aside the need to appear as the expert, we open ourselves to collaboration and innovation. This humility enables us to learn from others, no matter their level of experience.
Staying Curious: By committing to curiosity, we engage more deeply with our surroundings. Seeking out questions and new experiences can lead to meaningful discoveries and enhanced connections with those around us.
Soren aptly notes that “in the expert’s mind, there are few.” This truth illustrates that an excessive focus on expertise can limit our potential for growth and innovation. When we restrict ourselves to established knowledge and routines, we risk stagnation and become resistant to new ideas.
By nurturing a beginner’s mindset, we not only unlock countless possibilities but also develop deeper connections with ourselves and others. This enriching perspective encourages resilience in the face of challenges and fosters a lifelong love of learning, ultimately guiding us to a more fulfilling and enriched existence. The transition from white belt to black belt, therefore, is not merely a technical or physical advancement; it represents a profound shift in mindset and spirit, grounded in the timeless wisdom of Shoshin.
People laugh at dreamers. They question them. They doubt them. They wonder why they’re aiming so high.
But I’ve learned something.
The proof is always in the pudding.
There are simply no words in the English language to describe the immense pride I feel after hosting TEDxHeaton 2026 at Bradford Grammar School.
Even before I walked onto that stage, I knew it was going to be a special day. But I never imagined just how special it would become.
From the beautiful historic building, to the incredible lineup of speakers, artists and guests… from the warmth, kindness and person-centred approach of the organisers… to the amazing conversations, collaborations and friendships that began today… I left feeling incredibly grateful.
It reminded me that sometimes people only understand your vision after you’ve lived it.
So thank you to every single person who made this event possible. 👏🏽

I had the privilege of being part of the most amazing TEDxHeaton event.
Firstly, a huge thank you to Dr Sohail Ahmed. TEDxHeaton was his vision, and without his determination, belief in people and willingness to open doors for others, none of this would have happened.
We had the most incredible speakers. Many gave their time freely because they believed their ideas were worth sharing. Some travelled long distances to be with us. I laughed, I learned, I was inspired and, at times, I was moved to tears.
But what stayed with me most were the people.
During the break, I spoke to one gentleman who was recovering from serious cancer surgery and still had plasters attached to his arm. Yet he spoke passionately about bringing people of all faiths and backgrounds together and making the world a better place.
I remember thinking to myself, if someone recovering from something so serious can have that much energy, enthusiasm and determination to make a difference, then surely there is more all of us can do.
I also met a father who spent the entire day with his daughter so she could experience TEDx. In a world where everyone is busy, I thought that was something very special.
I am also incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to stand on the TEDx carpet and host for the very first time. It was an experience I will never forget, and I loved every second of it.
A huge thank you to Bradford Grammar School for believing in TEDxHeaton and providing such an incredible venue. Everyone was in awe of the school. I also bumped into the Headmaster during the day and, despite giving up part of his Saturday, he still took the time to ask if we needed anything. What an incredible Headmaster and what an incredible person.
We had wonderful volunteers who gave up their entire day to help. Thank you also to the families who supported our volunteers, especially those who got up early, gave lifts and helped make the day possible.

It was inspiring to watch Shahid Islam from Born In Bradford deliver such a thought-provoking TEDxHeaton talk today #BradfordGrammarSchool on the importance of community connectedness and its impact on health and wellbeing.
Shahid highlighted how the social determinants of health shape people’s lives far beyond healthcare services alone, and how health inequalities continue to affect communities across the country. Drawing on the work of Robert Putnam, he explored the decline in social capital and the consequences of increasing isolation, with many of us retreating further into our homes and away from community life.
He also referenced the powerful words of Margaret Mead, reminding us that meaningful change often begins with small groups of committed people working together to strengthen their communities.
A compelling and timely talk that challenged us to think about how we reconnect with one another, build stronger social networks, and create healthier, more resilient communities for everyone.
