COMING SOON ON THE TONY TOKUNBO FERNANDEZ SHOW – INTERVIEW WITH LORD MAYOR OF BRADFORD- COUNCILLOR MARTIN LOVE
Martin was born in Shipley and was educated at St Walburga’s Primary School in the town, before later attending Bradford Grammar School and latterly the University of Nottingham, where he achieved a Degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science in 1982.
From 1984 onwards he worked as an IT systems developer before, in 2011, deciding that the great outdoors offered more benefits than deskwork and he trained to become a self-employed dry stone waller, which he does to this day.
Martin is now one of the longest-serving Councillors in the district. He was first elected as a Shipley ward Councillor for the Green Party in 2002 and has served on numerous committees during that time, including chairing the Environment and Waste Management Overview and Scrutiny Committee for several years.
He lives in Shipley with his wife Helen and one of their sons. A Roman Catholic, he worships at St Walburga’s in Shipley and in his spare time is a keen runner (road, cross-country and fell), along with Helen and they are both members of the Saltaire Striders Athletics Club. He is also interested in cycling and continues to serve a life sentence as a Bradford City supporter.
Martin holds environmental causes close to his heart and is a trustee of the Salt Foundation and the Sir Titus Salt Charity. He has holidayed across Europe, Australia, South East Asia, the USA, Mexico and Canada.
He prefers tea to coffee, enjoys anything from Saltaire Brewery, Timothy Taylors or other local breweries and has no allergies or specific dietary requirements.
