The Gathering of Africa’s Best (GAB) Awards was established by The Trumpet Newspaper in 1999.

The Trumpet Newspaper, concerned with the negative stories about Africa and Africans which was not a true reflection of the community and the continent; had earlier started The Trumpet Newspaper in 1995 as a way of promoting the positive image of Africa and Africans.

The GAB Awards goes steps beyond the objectives of The Trumpet Newspaper, by rewarding excellence among those who are promoting the positive image of Africa and Africans. It is open to Africans and Friends of Africa.

The GAB Awards now also takes place in Manchester, providing a platform to recognise community achievers doing great work in the North of the Country and this awards ceremony in Manchester shall be taking place on Saturday the 30^th of November at The Double tree  (by Hilton Hotel), Piccadilly, Manchester , M1 3DG at 7pm on the Dot .
