FAREWELL MADIBA – PART ONE – BY TONY TOKUNBO FERNANDEZ

Image

VERY FEW STILL STANDING,
IN TRUENESS OF A SELFLESS DIGNIFIED DANCE,
IT IS NOT ENOUGH- TO DECORATE THE WALLS OF THE REGIONS OF THIS EARTH WITH FANCY WORDS, FALSE PROMISES AND AN EMPTY HEART,

TOO MANY SHIPS – NOT ENOUGH SAILORS ….
AND EVEN THE DEEP BLUE SEA FEELS NEGLECTED,

LAST NIGHT,
YOU LEFT QUIETLY,
AFTER GRADUATING FROM A COLOURFUL HISTORIC JOURNEY,
MY HEART SANK ….
AND THE MOOD IN MY SOUL BEGAN TO CRY …
AND YET- I AM STILL AWAKE BUT SPEECHLESS …
SURROUNDED BY THE DETAILS AND THE RIDDLES OF THE DAY,
AND PERHAPS A NEW VOID THAT WILL NEVER BE FILLED,
HAS LEFT A STAIN IN THE NAKED STILL WIND,
WITH DUE RESPECT- THANK YOU SIR
