Tony Tokunbo Eteka Fernandez is an International Award Winner, Published Author & Poet, Broadcast Journalist, MC and Youth Empowerment Consultant . He is also The CEO of AFRICA4U and The Founder of Africans in The Diaspora People also see him as a Cultural and Social entrepreneur, which means he is skilled in working with many different communities, bringing people together in successful focused events. Tony has organised many cultural events …involving both BME and mainstream communities. He is skilled in hosting events that reinforce community cohesion and bringing different kinds of people together. He has organised events in The UK, The U.S.A, Holland, Germany, Romania, Malta and Nigeria and has visited over 22 European Countries. Tony has also organised The Black History Month Celebrations at The UK House of Parliament for over five years in a row He continues to promote the true life and success stories of Africans in Europe and Africans around the world and has organised several small scale literary and awards initiatives aimed at empowering young people. He has also spent time as an International broadcaster and was The Producer and Presenter for AFRICA4U International Radio Talk Show at Reading4u Radio Station for nearly three years. Tony has interviewed high profile Members of Parliament, Distinguished celebrities and some of Africas best musicians including Ivonne Chaka Chaka and Kanda Bongoman. He has also been a guest on BBC Radio on numerous occasions to discuss the community cohesion events he organises at UK House of Parliament and also to recite some of his published work in memory of Nelson Mandela, 50 Years Anniversary of The race relations act and major community issues. Tony has also a Guest on popular Radio stations in Nigeria and The States In the last few years he has been very passionate about Youth empowerment, community cohesion and cultural intelligence. Tony was born in South London and has lived in several parts of England and Nigeria . He started writing at the tender age of nine, a habit he expressed with creative enthusiasm. Tony writes Poetry, short stories and proverbs on personal development. He is currently working on his 4th book which will also be his first novel. He is also into Public Speaking at Special events and Social functions and is a Mentor for young people in the UK Community. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Lagos, Nigeria in English and World Literature. He later went on to attain a teaching qualification at The Frances King International Training Institute, South Kensington London, it was here he studied Teaching English as a Foreign Language. He also studied Web Design at The City University in London. He published his first book in June 1999 called “The Beauty in the Dark” (A Collection of Poetry which received critical acclamation in many circles around the world). .Tony’s aim in life is to inspire the young generation and to encourage the youth to make the very best of their dreams and aspirations,. He published a 2nd book in June 2009 called ” The Sound of Running Water” – A Family gift book of proverbs and quotations on Personal Development and Positive Thinking . In December 2009, he published his 3rd book called “One Moment of Peace”.- A collection of Poetry inspired by personal experiences and spiritual growth. Besides the fact that the Artist has won International online awards, he is mostly inspired by Life experience, love, music and cultural awareness. He was Resident Poet at the 5th London Poetry Festival in 2009 and has been a guest on BBC Radio on very many occassions including The famous Anne Diamond Show. He has also been a guest on a few SKY TV stations and several International Radio Stations around The World

ROLE MODEL OF THE WEEK, DR MILTON OBAMBA, ACADEMIC FELLOW IN INTERNATIONAL EDUCATIONAL POLICY – UNIVERSITY OF LEEDS

Dr. Milton O. Obamba: Profile

Dr. Milton Obamba is currently Academic Fellow in international education policy and management at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Prior to joining Leeds University in 2017, Dr. Obamba was Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at the University of Central Lancashire.  He was previously a holder of the prestigious Carnegie Centenary Fellowship at the Leeds Beckett University where he received the PhD in international higher education policy and development before launching an international academic career. 

Prior to this phase, Obamba was also a recipient of the NORAD Fellowship which took him to the Universiteit Bergen, Norway for postgraduate studies.  During and after graduate studies, Obamba pursued advanced research training and practice at the international level as Visiting Research Fellow in various universities around the world; including Nordiska Afrika Institutet (University of Uppsala, Sweden), Amsterdam Institute Metropolitan and Development Studies (University of Amsterdam), Centre for African Studies (University of Leiden), CERES (Utrecht University), University of Monash (Australia), and Carnegie Research Institute at Leeds Beckett University (UK). 

Drawing on an interdisciplinary background, Dr. Obamba’s areas of expertise span international and comparative education, international development, public policy analysis, educational leadership and governance, quantitative and qualitative research methods, as well as the interface between education and sustainable global development.  Dr. Obamba demonstrates significant knowledge and expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methods, data analysis, and analytic software. He is trained and well-practiced in applications of SPSS™, NVIVO™, and ATLAS™ software for performing a range of advanced quantitative and qualitative analyses. 

He is also competent in conducting Systematic Reviews using EPPI Reviewer4™, as well as working knowledge of PRINCE2™ project management system. During his career, Dr. Obamba has engaged in active scholarship and publication in several international academic journals, books, and commissioned technical reports. Some of his recent publications have appeared in Higher Education Policy, Journal of International and Comparative Education, and Sage Handbook of International Higher Education. His co-authored book, The Transnationally Partnered University (2014) is published by Palgrave MacMillan’s International and Development Education series. 

Over the last decade, Obamba has led and participated in several research and scholarship projects in international education and development policy across various countries Dr. Obamba has led or participated in various international research and consultancy projects commissioned by leading international organizations. In 2018, Dr. Obamba completed a multi-country commissioned research project to examine the structure, policies, and practices of doctoral training at leading universities across six African countries to advice the Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) on their current mission to reform and revitalize doctoral education across African countries

Dr. Obamba also led a major international research and consultancy project in Uganda, Kenya, and Ghana commissioned by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) to conduct a thematic mapping of research and innovation systems, practices, and policies as part of OECD’s flagship program on Innovation, Higher Education and Research for Development (see synthesis report here). Dr Obamba has also been commissioned as Principal Investigator by the UK Department for International Development (DFID) in various projects, including conduct a systematic mapping and political economy analysis of social science research landscape and capacities in parts of Africa to inform and shape the DFID’s strategy towards establishing the East African Research Hub 

However, Dr. Obamba’s expertise and experience transcend the academia. Besides his well-known academic career, Dr. Obamba is also widely regarded as an accomplished digital entrepreneur and marketing expert of international standing. He has built and managed several thriving business ventures within the wider digital income space, including automated online business development and deployment, worldwide affiliate marketing and franchises, and digital network marketing. As a trained forex analyst, Dr. Obamba also runs ventures that provide unique concepts in Forex and Cryptocurrency trading helping hundreds of members around the world to benefit from the financial markets. Dr. Obamba will be pleased to welcome requests for assistance and consultancy in all areas of smart business development and passive income creation across many areas of the modern digital economy.

ROLE MODEL OF THE WEEK, MR RUPERT EVANS FROM KINGSTON, JAMAICA

Rupert Arnold Evans (born 24 February 1954) is a Jamaican born former English cricketer. Evans was a right-handed batsman who bowled right-arm off break. He was born in KingstonJamaica.

Evans made his debut for Oxfordshire in the 1973 Minor Counties Championship against Cornwall. Evans played Minor counties cricket for Oxfordshire from 1973 to 1996, which included 155 Minor Counties Championship matches[1] and 26 MCCA Knockout Trophy matches.[2] He made his List Adebut against Warwickshire in the 1983 NatWest Trophy. He played 9 further List A matches for Oxfordshire, the last coming against Lancashire in 1996 NatWest Trophy.[3] In his 10 List A matches for Oxfordshire, he took 9 wickets at a bowling average of 43.77, with best figures of 3/46.[4]

Playing for Oxfordshire allowed him to represent the Minor Counties cricket team. He played a single first-class match for the team in 1990 against the touring Indians.[5] He took 2 wickets in the match, those of Ravi Shastri and Kapil Dev.[6] He also played List A cricket for the Minor Counties, first appearing for them in limited-overs cricket against Northamptonshire in the 1988 Benson & Hedges Cup. He played 17 further List A matches for the team, the last coming in the 1995 Benson & Hedges Cup against Warwickshire.[3] Evans took just 4 wickets in his 18 matches for the team, coming at an expensive average of 137.25.[4]
