Gogo is an accomplished Commercial Business and Retail Operations Manager, HR Strategist and Administrator, Talent Manager, Employee Relations Specialist, HRM Researcher and Business Process Optimization Advocate. Initiated and facilitated the implementation of fundamental business and HR policies that enhanced organizational performance and employee experience.

I have developed business and retail management, human resource management, employee relations and research skills that will enable me to teach HRM & employment relations, lead HR transformation and drive organizational performance in national and multinational organizations.

Mr Anyanwu is currently doing his PHD at The Universitry of Leeds, West Yorkshire. He is also an accomplished artist with a wealth of talent and imagination.

The Africa4u Awards for Africans and Caribbeans in West Yorkshire has now been confirmed.

The event shall take place on Friday the 6th of May at The City Library in Bradford at 6pm on the dot .  We are passionate about celebrating the success stories of African and Caribbean achievers in Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield, Halifax and surrounding areas. 

We will have some amazing speakers in the day living in different parts of West Yorkshire.

We will also be giving out Award certificates to some amazing African and Caribbean achievers living in West Yorkshire for their great work in various communities.

Come and be part of an amazing evening of Award recognitions, Motivational talks, networking and light refreshments .

ESTHER OSAKWE BASED IN BRADFORD WILL BE ONE OF THE RECIPIENTS

Osakwe Nonyelum Esther, popularly known as ONE, is a 35-year-old mother of three who wants to make a difference in Bradford and beyond.

Originally from Nigeria, Esther lived in Colchester and Milton Keynes before making Bradford her home 6 years ago.

Her passions include education, empowerment, music, children, food and faith. 

She is a creative artist with a special talent for all things rest and relaxation  and currently undergoing a master programme in dance movement psychotherapy at the University of Derby.

Esther volunteers in several local and international organisations supporting change and improving quality of life globally. She’s also the founder and director at Life Improvement Consults C.I.C.  

Chief amongst her achievements and recognitions is her title as the Miss commonwealth for Africa 2021/22. 

She hopes to leave her world better than she met it.–

Osakwe Nonyelum Esther (HRH)

Ndidi Nkwopara is a Life Coach, Author and Entrepreneur. She was born in the
rustic city of Owerri but grew up in the Northern cities of Kano and Kaduna all
in Nigeria. She returned to Owerri for her secondary education at the Federal
Government Girls’ College and from there she went to the University of Jos
where she graduated with a B.A English.

A diagnosis and subsequent recovery of cancer inspired a new journey for her
into the world of Complementary Health Therapies working with oncology
patients, and eventually into the more encompassing Health and Wellbeing
Industry where her focus and passion is on promoting healthy lifestyles and
stress management techniques as a method of preventing stress-induced
diseases/health problems. She lives in West Yorkshire and has worked on the
Wise Up to Cancer project, a community health programme funded by the
Yorkshire Cancer Research.

Her first book, Retreat to Rebirth – My Story is about surviving cancer and
living by faith. She shares her life lessons to encourage women to recognise
their worth and maximise their potentials. Through the platform of Soaring with
Didi (a company founded by her, she provides life-coaching services for women
of African descent. Soaring with Didi creates an opportunity for an unmet need;
the need for African women to share their stories through talking, reading and
writing. Through action learning sessions, they will explore strategies for
overcoming and creating their own resilience/rebirth toolkits.

In her second non-fiction work- Poverty is a Woman, Her Daughters Look Like
Her- Ndidi Nkwopara, captures the travails of African women entrepreneurs as
the world progresses towards gender equality by closing the financial gap. She
also shares her journey as a female entrepreneur in African Shea Value Chain,
working with the rural women producers to process sheanuts into sheabutter.
From the farmgate, the sheabutter is transported to the cosmetic factory in the
urban city and finally to the retail shelves of shops and spas as finished
products like Ariella Sheabutter.

The book critically looks at the reasons why inpite of the local and international funds made available to financial and non- financial organisations for the purpose of empowering women, closing the
gender gap has been very slow and insignificant. It also prefers solutions.

Ndidi was one of the commissioned artists for My World, My City, My
Neighbourhood, a Leeds2023 project. She worked in collaboration with the
Leeds African Community Trust (LACT) to tell the stories of African migrants
in Leeds.

I once loved to see the sunset
And the memories it brings of how we met.
It reminded me of us a lot
Of how we anticipated tying the knot.

How we would stay awake and chat
And plan the future wearing our thinking hat
Till we were enveloped in darkness
While our conversations lighted our eyes without stress.

These days, I detest seeing the sunset
Its presence makes me so upset.
I can’t but think I once loved you as a friend
And wondered how everything just came an end.
I really wish our friendship can bloom again
So we can smile like the sun and play in the rain.
Bury the hatchet, cast away the offences
And build as stronger bond and not fences.

Raphael Famoroti studied Philosophy at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria.

He is currently a Masters Student of Digital Marketing at the University of Salford, United Kingdom.

He is passionate about poetry and marketing. He began writing in 2014.
At his leisure, he loves to play scrabble, watch football and engage in intelligent conversations with
friends.

We are pleased to announce that the amazing John Atkinson is one of The Winners of The Community Achievers awards which was held as part of The Commonwealth African summit UK which took place in Middlesbrough this month .

The annual initiative is organized by Comrade Odedeyi and his amazing team.

John Atkinson is a community worker who has accumulated 30 years’
experience helping people to get involved, set up new organisations and
build networks.

John was one of the founders a charity delivering HIV prevention work in
Darlington; he went on to work for Newcastle City Council supporting HIV
prevention work across the Northeast.

In 2003, John started working for Local Development Agencies in County
Durham and Teesside, with a 4-year spell setting up telephone
befriending services in County Durham, Northumberland, Merseyside and
Manchester.

John currently works for Middlesbrough Voluntary Development Agency
supporting people to make good things happen.

Orangzabe Latif was born and brought up in Stockton, he has been
involved in working in the business sector in retail and he own
self-employed travel firm.

The passions in his life have been his family, culture and the
community.

Latif has been involved in various charity events and organisations up
and down the country, most notably attending in person with a team of
Doctors for emergency natural disaster response in Pakistan due to a
devastating earthquake.

Latif has passionately continued to help families with devastation, but
of a man-made nature, this was after bad practice from some of the
social workers that have had affected his family home. He had survived
social services abuse and continue to enjoy living with his children who
were eventually returned to him, although he still suffers from the
impact from the social services involvement as he has not been able to
see his youngest child for 5 years.

Latif have set up a support network across the country, utilising social
media and on -line resources to give hope to vulnerable families with
the aim of reuniting families and advocating for their rights.

Dr Sohail Ahmed, The Chair of Bradford for Better organization will be a guest on THE TONY TOKUNBO FERNANDEZ SHOW. He will be on air to discuss the short term and long term visions of this amazing organization . WATCH THIS SPACE- THIS IS A SHOW YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO MISS

It is no surprise that this amazing man has been shortlisted among six other amazing General practitioners to win the National General Practitioner of the Year award out of thousands of amazing nominations which took place last year

There is no doubt whatsover, that the winning spirit in Dr Ahmed will continue to embrace new paths of great manifestations . Already his team has organized many initiatives in Bradford this year.

Bradford is entering a bid to become UK City of Culture in 2025, along with other areas competing for the title.

The title UK City of Culture is awarded every four years by the Government, with the winner hosting a year-long programme of cultural activities and celebrations.

Nigerian Community Association Bradford (NCAB) BIO

The Nigerian Community Association Bradford (NCAB) was founded in 1991 as
Nigerian Friendship Society (NFS) in Bradford West Yorkshire to empower
members and friends of the community. In 2003 NFS became NCAB in
recognition of a need to demonstrate greater inclusivity. In 2012, NCAB
celebrated their 21 st anniversary and in December 2021, the association
celebrated her 30 th anniversary which was attended by a lot of people within
and outside Bradford.
NCAB is active in organising educational, social, and cultural activities including
health events, business seminar, immigration, practical support to members.
The association has witnessed many leaders who have led the association to
succeed in her current endeavour. The association current president is Dr.
Olushola Adeborode Kolawole (OAK) who took over the leadership of the
association in December 2021.
