Tony Tokunbo Eteka Fernandez is an International Award Winner, Published Author & Poet, Broadcast Journalist, MC and Youth Empowerment Consultant . He is also The CEO of AFRICA4U and The Founder of Africans in The Diaspora People also see him as a Cultural and Social entrepreneur, which means he is skilled in working with many different communities, bringing people together in successful focused events. Tony has organised many cultural events …involving both BME and mainstream communities. He is skilled in hosting events that reinforce community cohesion and bringing different kinds of people together. He has organised events in The UK, The U.S.A, Holland, Germany, Romania, Malta and Nigeria and has visited over 22 European Countries. Tony has also organised The Black History Month Celebrations at The UK House of Parliament for over five years in a row He continues to promote the true life and success stories of Africans in Europe and Africans around the world and has organised several small scale literary and awards initiatives aimed at empowering young people. He has also spent time as an International broadcaster and was The Producer and Presenter for AFRICA4U International Radio Talk Show at Reading4u Radio Station for nearly three years. Tony has interviewed high profile Members of Parliament, Distinguished celebrities and some of Africas best musicians including Ivonne Chaka Chaka and Kanda Bongoman. He has also been a guest on BBC Radio on numerous occasions to discuss the community cohesion events he organises at UK House of Parliament and also to recite some of his published work in memory of Nelson Mandela, 50 Years Anniversary of The race relations act and major community issues. Tony has also a Guest on popular Radio stations in Nigeria and The States In the last few years he has been very passionate about Youth empowerment, community cohesion and cultural intelligence. Tony was born in South London and has lived in several parts of England and Nigeria . He started writing at the tender age of nine, a habit he expressed with creative enthusiasm. Tony writes Poetry, short stories and proverbs on personal development. He is currently working on his 4th book which will also be his first novel. He is also into Public Speaking at Special events and Social functions and is a Mentor for young people in the UK Community. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Lagos, Nigeria in English and World Literature. He later went on to attain a teaching qualification at The Frances King International Training Institute, South Kensington London, it was here he studied Teaching English as a Foreign Language. He also studied Web Design at The City University in London. He published his first book in June 1999 called “The Beauty in the Dark” (A Collection of Poetry which received critical acclamation in many circles around the world). .Tony’s aim in life is to inspire the young generation and to encourage the youth to make the very best of their dreams and aspirations,. He published a 2nd book in June 2009 called ” The Sound of Running Water” – A Family gift book of proverbs and quotations on Personal Development and Positive Thinking . In December 2009, he published his 3rd book called “One Moment of Peace”.- A collection of Poetry inspired by personal experiences and spiritual growth. Besides the fact that the Artist has won International online awards, he is mostly inspired by Life experience, love, music and cultural awareness. He was Resident Poet at the 5th London Poetry Festival in 2009 and has been a guest on BBC Radio on very many occassions including The famous Anne Diamond Show. He has also been a guest on a few SKY TV stations and several International Radio Stations around The World

ABOUT  PROFESSOR UDIAK ARCHIBONG (MBE)

Uduak Archibong PhD MBE is Professor of Diversity at the University of Bradford, UK, where she directs the Centre for Inclusion and Diversity and provides strategic oversight for equality and diversity across the institution. She is Fellow of the West African College of Nursing and Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing. Her research, teaching, and knowledge transfer activities broadly cover the areas of workforce diversity, diversity competent leadership development, family-centred health care and cross-cultural negotiation

of community/family access to, and engagement in health and social services. Her research interests have been influenced by many years’ experience of working closely with leaders and senior managers within the healthcare and higher education arenas both in the UK and internationally. She has recently led to completion a major multi-million European Commission funded action research project, GENOVATE, across 7 European Universities and is currently involved in a multi-million Horizon 2020 project, RRING, along with 22 international partners in Europe, China, Africa, India, Japan, North America and South America.  She is also involved in a national research study ‘Cracking the Concrete Ceiling’ which seeks to explore the impact of the ‘Diversifying Leadership’ programme of the Leadership Foundation [now part of Advance HE] on UK Black and Minority Ethnic Academic staff. This study is in collaboration with Royal Holloway, University of London, the University of East London and the Equality Challenge Unit [now part of Advance HE].  She is the Guest Editor of a recently published Special Issue of the Journal of Psychological Issues in Organisational Culture entitled ‘Reframing Diversity Interventions in Austere Times’.

ABOUT GLYNIS SIBISI

My name is Glynis Fletcher /Sibisi

Born and bred in South Africa, one of the 10 children of Mr and Mrs Sibisi. My upbringing was a very challenging one however I worked with diligence to achieve my degree in nursing which was in university of Western Cape.

In 1999 I came to work in this country,  United Kingdom and bringing 3 children on my own was a big challenge but I used my challenges as stepping stones  to accomplish my goals. In 2005 I met Neil Fletcher, now my husband and IMy daddy haven charity was conceived through my mentor Ps Kofi Owusu/ Alive for a purpose masterclass.

Our objectives is to give underprivileged children a chance to achieve their goals in life. At present we are supporting this children where they live with the aim to build an orphanage in South Africa where their needs will be met in an environment that is conductive to their learning, safety and security.

We are in a process of applying for a charity status so that we will be able to reach out for financial assistance.

We believe that the future of this children is brighter than their past and we are willing to go an  extra mile to see it fulfilled. With God on our side, nothing will be impossible.

Mary Mawuwomu Akorli is a young entrepreneur who comes from the volta region of Ghana. She loves social development and more specifically issues relating to the under-privileged in society . She is currently working with the GIBICTS Center for community and youth development as the Director for Women and Youth development.

With her experience as a former womens commissioner amongst other gender and youth related portfolios, she worked in partnership with many national and international organizations notably ; UN women, UN AIDS, Netright and the All Africa Students Union (AASU ).
She is the Ghana representative for The UK based : AFRICA4U ASSOCIATION

ROLE MODEL OF THE WEEK , DJ ABASS – DJ, MC, BROADCASTER & ENTERTAINMENT CONSULTANT

DJ ABASS is a London based DJ, MC, broadcaster and a media & entertainment consultant. He is one of the most influential figures in the popularisation of African music in the UK and beyond. As a broadcaster, he hosted and co-produced the popular TV music program ‘Intro with DJ Abass’ and remains a regular commentator on African issues on UK television and radio. He is a founding member of the Nigerian Djs UK Association and a long standing co-organiser of the Nigerian Corner at the annual Notting-Hill Carnival.

Dj Abass has been a prominent figure on the African entertainment scene in the UK as a top DJ both on the club and mobile circuit. He has produced a collection of over 150 mixtapes and made his first ‘Afro Pop’ mixtape in 2000 titled ‘Downtown Lagos’.

Abass is the CEO of DJAMEDIA. This outfit is a dedicated media and entertainment consultancy company specialising in first class entertainment events management and full media campaigns to targeted demographics within Afro-Caribbean communities in the UK. It has been responsible for some of the biggest and most prestigious entertainment events within the African social network and notable among these are first class Nollywood movie premieres, annual African independence day shows, comedy & musical concerts and sports events.

Dj Abass was the media/entertainment coordinator at the Wazobia Lounge (Nigeria Stand) at the Africa Village, an official hospitality centre at the London Olympics 2012. He has won numerous awards notable among which are Beffta Awards ‘Entertainment Icon of the Year 2011’ , African Music Awards UK ‘Club DJ of the year 2008’ and Nigerian Music Awards UK ‘ Entertainment Journalist of the year 2006’.

Who are we?

•We are registered organisation in England and Wales, an African led organisation operating in Nigeria and the UK. Save the Woman is based in Middlesbrough, North East, England charged with the task of providing or set up for the sole purpose of :

– Advocacy support and Skills empowerment for incarcerated and ex-offending females based in Nigeria and UK.

– As an extension we are currently supporting the work in Teeside University to build and enrich students life through business development and entrepreneurial studies.

– In November 2018, STW supported the launch of the African and African-Caribbean Network at Teesside University, we also organised a ‘Commonwealth for Africa’ Conference at Teesside University in March 2019.
