The Music and Media Platform Awards (TMMP Awards) is a collaborative award ceremony where top media platforms from the UK and International, nominates the top artists, musicians and community heroes. We also focus on community projects throughout the year and acknowledge people/organisations who have been making significant impact in their communities both locally and nationally. 

We had a successful virtual event last year and had Grammy Award and Dove award winners Jonathan McReynolds, Sinach and Top UK artists including Bradford’s own intentional artist Philippa Hanna, performed at the event.

This year, we are hosting the awards physically at Life Centre, Bradford on Friday 12th and Saturday 13th August 2022. This is a magnificent state of the art venue and we are aiming to attract an attendance of between 1000 – 1400 audience. We will also stream the event live online to a global audience. The award ceremony is opened to all to attend.

The UK HealthTech AfyaRekod launches Universal patient portal for worldwide health data mobility management.

AfyaRekod is a Universal Patient Portal, built on block-chain technology that will transform the face of health care across the UK and the World. Roland Orlando Butcher (born 14 October 1953, Saint Philip, Barbados)^[1] is a former cricket player and coach, who played for England in three Test matches and three One Day Internationals from 1980 to 1981. He is recognised as being the first black cricketer to represent England.^[2] His brief international career was somewhat overshadowed by the death of Ken Barrington, and the ‘Jackman affair‘.

A cousin of Basil, Roland Butcher had come to the United Kingdom at the age of thirteen from his native Barbados.^[1] He was an aggressive middle-order batsman, who represented Middlesex between 1974 and 1990. His intuitive batting style owed much to the archetypical West Indian calypso flair.^[1] He “secured his place in history when he became the first black player to represent England, making his Test debut at Bridgetown in 1980-81”.^[3]

Butcher came to prominence during Middlesex’s successes in 1980 when they won the County Championship and the Gillette Cup, impressing with a rapid half-century in the final of the latter.^[4] He had actually made his England debut two weeks later, impressing with another half-century on his one-day international debut against Australia.^[5] He struggled more however on the 1980-1 tour against the West Indies who had the most powerful bowling line-up in the world at the time and did not play for England again.

In 1983, “he suffered a sickening injury which threatened his eyesight when struck by George Ferris“, but managed to recuperate and return to the sport.^[3] He continued to enjoy success with Middlesex, winning the County Championship again in 1982 and 1985, and featuring in victories in the finals of the NatWest Trophy in 1984 and 1988 and the Benson and Hedges Cup in 1983. In 1987 he won the Walter Lawrence Trophy for recording the fastest century of the season (in terms of balls faced) against Sussex

EX-ENGLISH CRICKETER, ROLAND BUTCHER, LAUNCHES REVOLUTIONARY NEW CRICKET BAT AIMED AT SIGNIFICANTLY IMPROVING BATTING PERFORMANCES

The long-awaited Roland Butcher Cricket Training Bats were launched at the famous Lord’s Cricket

Ground in London recently. The bats have been specially designed to tackle a technical problem that

plagued the ex-English cricketer throughout his 20-year professional career.

“Throughout my career I had a technical problem with the balls that came into the right-handed

batsman, and I had great difficulty in correcting this problem throughout my career,” explained

Butcher. “Once I had retired this continued to weigh heavily on my mind and I started investigating

different ways to solve the problem. This problem was solved by designing a bat that corrected this

technical flaw. I firmly believe that my new training bat will help all current and future cricketers

develop the batting skills and techniques required to be successful in their elite careers.”

Butcher was the first black cricketer to be selected to play for England and had an illustrious career,

which included playing for Middlesex County Cricket Club.

The first bat he designed was aimed at mastering the in-swinging and off spin deliveries that right-

handed batsmen typically face. Once he was completely satisfied with the design, size, weight and

balance he then sent it for rigorous scientific testing, which produced exceptional results.

But his research did not stop there. It then occurred to him that the oppose must also be true for

players who have difficulty playing the ball that moves or spins away from the right-handed

batsman. The second bat was designed to master the away swing and leg spin deliveries.

“In relation to the first two bats that were designed for the right-handed batsman, there are

equivalent bats reversed for the left-handed batsman,” said Butcher.

The third and final training bat in his series is designed for mastering the playing of spin, fast bowling

and concentration. 

“Whilst designing my bats I was a High-Performance Coach with the International Cricket Council

(ICC) under ICC High Performance Head Coach Bob Woolmer, the former England player and South

Africa and Pakistan Head Coach. Bob advised me to have the bats scientifically tested”, explains

Butcher.

And in 2002, Butcher registered the three bat inventions with the patent office, and they were sent

to Loughborough University for testing. Loughborough University is one of the most advanced

Universities in the world of Science and Technology in Sport. The scientific study and testing were

conducted by the Wolfson School of Mechanical, Electrical and Manufacturing Engineering at the

same University.

The process took two years to complete, and in 2004 Butcher was handed a complete and

comprehensive thesis. “The thesis from Loughborough University confirmed scientifically that all the

bats worked and produced the exact results I was anticipating. Not only that, but it proved that the

batter’s performance was significantly improved!”

The results also confirmed that the training bats improved the accuracy of the bowlers significantly.

“This result was a pleasant surprise as I had designed the bats exclusively for batting,” concluded

Butcher.

I have worked in the NHS, local government and the Civil Service. This includes eight years as lead research and community engagement officer within the Chief Executives Department and policy unit in a busy London local authority, four years in the NHS, and four in the voluntary sector, mostly on research projects to improve health care access and patient experience.

My local government experience was focused on leading, advising and supporting the local authority’s market research and customer engagement activities, including complaints analysis, management and customer feedback.

My NHS has experience provided me with formal research skills and experience of reaching, engaging and researching ‘difficult to reach’ social groups.

Specialties: 1. Research management – designing, implementing, managing and commissioning research projects for both internal purposes and external clients.
