I am more than just a Black Man,
A heart and soul living beyond the pictures painted by your brush,
defining legacy, creating new history,
embracing the present moment,
yet feeding new lives with “kola-nuts”
And coaxing new worlds with stories.

I am more than just a Black Man,
walking the streets that are blessed with new walls,
breaking boundaries,
engrossed in the passionate dance of a mental journey,
Singing from the scripts of a new emancipation,
Yet planting new seeds dressed in the clothing of different shades.

I am more than just a Black Man,
inspired by the footprints of a focused calling,
My pockets have never been empty,
Proud yet humble,
unassuming to the eyes of the worlds new faces,
Yet ready to serve new places .

Its heart has been waiting, before the motions of the sunrise,
Its palms are filled with fresh daffodils,
kissing this moment of a new celebration,
For what we have is this very moment,

Today I traced my roots,
back to the home of bright petals,
soft music fills the air,
with the warmth of old and new energies,
And the sweetest album of love.

I felt your presence,
and the unspoken charm from your fingers,
fingers that had fed children,
fed villages
and fed the orphans of the world.
The embraced blood-cord from Jamaica to Nigeria.

Today is not just another day.
It’s a celebration of triumph from the darkest moments.

It is time to celebrate,
all those years that have paved the way for a happy day,
and yet in my heart,
I know it might not have been an easy ride,
for every shade has its journey,
Through the many pictures of life.

You are special,
A silent rock,
embracing new movements in still waters,
Yet sometimes – no one really notices.

And deep within you,
a voice has been created,
to fly, to acquire and to excel,
to reach for the stars in your gentle way,
doing what you do best.

calm through the moments of rage and storm,
thoughtful and gentle from the day you were born,

It was only yesterday,
that mother sang of your beauty,
and the shinning stars that summoned the blessings of the world,
And when you smile – you take the world with you,
Creating new bonds of friendship with ease.

And people have often asked,
Is she your sister or your daughter?
As your youth continues to outsmart the footprints of age.

There is only one Nicolettte,
smiling each time you climb every mountain,
nurturing in strength and the pillars of your home,
Yet – much stronger than people think.

There is only one Nicolette,
vibrant and firm as each day unfolds,
I could not wish for a better sibling,

Phemz is a versatile budding Lagos based Hip hop/Rhythm & Blues artist pushing his trade with a twist of afro centricity. Phemz who hails from Akure in Ondo State is Oluwafemi Temitayo Joshua Oduru by name.

Educational Background

Born on the 21st of April 1991, he had his primary education at Florin International School from 1994 to 2000 and secondary education at Ansar- ud – deen Grammar School from 2000 to 2006 and his tertiary education at Osun State Polytechnic where he graduated and had his Higher National Diploma with ‘Upper Credit’ in Accounting.

Musical Background

Phemz foray into music began at the exuberant age of 12 when he began singing in church, but professionally kicked off his career in 2011 at the ripe age of 20.

He has continuously pushed against many odds to produce three tracks inclusive of two features and two collabos, with “bunmi and telemi”. His tracks are currently enjoying airplay on major radio stations

He was featured on the August 4th 2012 edition of the national Mirror newspaper where he expressed his desire for the future of his blossoming career. He was nominated as the most promising artiste of the year at the Top Naija Music Awards held at the Bespoke Centre, Lekki. Though he didn’t pick the award, he was duly accorded recognition at that time by trending artistes such as Adol, Korede Bello and eclectic Sound City presenter Denrele and a host of other top Nigerian artistes.

Phemz is musically dexterous as he plays the guitar and piano very well and possesses dancing steps that drives girls wild. He believes in the power of mentor-ship as he has Mr Segun Demuren (EME co-partner) as his mentor but holds God as his number mentor as he draws the best inspirations from him although the street and everything around him have fed his musical genius. He is also a model and is currently working on some singles and mix tapes.
