TRIBUTE TO PRINCE ROGERS NELSON, A GENIUS AHEAD OF HIS TIME – BY TONY FERNANDEZ

The night is choked by the wind of musical shadows,

An old transition drowns …

dressed in Diamonds, Pearls and signatures of Purple rain,

The eyes of the land are filled with tears.

Where is our social prophet?

Money might not matter tonight,

for the sad pockets of the earth are filled with the imagery of your late legacy

The sun sets, and a new season unfolds,

creating room for a new revolution,

And now that you have gone,

New voices are born, eager to become – Passports of the future.

A BIG THANK YOU to The Royal Sister Alicia Queen and The MR & MISS BLACK BEAUTY UK PAGEANT team for the honour and for organising such an amazing event, and even though this is my 10th Award, it simply feels like the first.

One of my several roles in the community is A Youth empowerment consultant,
In my THANK YOU speech last night, I had THREE MESSAGES for the Youth and pleaded with them to take these THREE MESSAGES very seriously. They are listed below.

1 . I reminded them that ALL GOOD THINGS IN LIFE ARE POSSIBLE, and they need to feed this into their mindset every single day, They also need to practice what I call the THREE P

Patience, Passion and Perseverance

2. They need to BE the CHANGE they want to SEE IN SOCIETY and never sit on the fence and complain, but always dance in the rain and be part of the action of Life

3. I finally reminded them that no matter how successful they became in Life, they must always always humble themselves.

It has been TWO YEARS NOW, since THE CHIBOK GIRLS have gone missing and I would like to dedicate My INSPIRATIONAL MAN AWARD 2016 to al those humanitarians and patriots of LOVE and UNITY who have been involved in The Campaign to find the MISSING GIRLS

ITS BEEN TWO YEARS, WE ARE STILL SAYING LOUD & CLEAR, BRING BACK OUR GIRLS

Words are not Enough …
Words will never be Enough
And the Soil has been stained- Even before I was born ..
Its skin polluted into new layers of rotten fragments
And for many years … Pools of tears untold
Stories which never made the HEADLINES,
Bodies that grew into Shadows
Vanishing into the dirge of a Bleak Sadness

Words are not Enough
Words will never be Enough ..
Dark Riddles embrace the mystery of the same old anguish

The laughing voices remain faceless
Raping our land
Raping our spirit
Raping our home
Raping the content and the fruits of our energy
Raping our WOMEN …

And then – SILENCE
And over the years, more SILENCE
The world keeps QUIET
The same old story in different LANDS
and many more stories which never make The HEADLINES

Words are not Enough
Words will never be Enough
And when you put the puzzle pieces together
A new HELL lets loose

Slowly our homes begin to burn
But even the most educated minds cannot see the FIRE
Sometimes it takes COURAGE
Sometimes it takes TRUE LOVE
Sometimes it takes UNITY
Sometimes it takes the start of a NEW SONG and an Old Revolution
For what is a NATION without WOMEN

Silence
Then more Silence
Then more common phrases

“God Dey”
“E go better”
“It is well”

But these are just Words
JUST WORDS
