The Lives we Carry Synopsis

‘The Lives we Carry’ explores epigenetic inheritances. Passionate
and sad it showcases the Northern, Black, Female Voice, depicting
the Universal Black, Female, Migrant experience. Being a ‘Leeds
Lass,’ I yearn for my mother’s, grandmothers’, ‘Aunties’ and ‘Sista’s
voices to be heard. They’re just as poignant and powerful as those
in the South of the UK and in the Global Diaspora.

TLWC shows us Womanhood,
migration trauma and the effects;
the dreams and the passions of
these women. Through this powerful
play, which challenges the lack of
“Black Female voices’ in the literary
Canon we connect; with them, to
ourselves, to our wider Global family
and to our experiences in
environments not suited for their
psyche, physiology or Spirituality.
How and when do we heal?
