Nkechi Ugochukwu was born in May 19th, 1993 at Osina Community Hospital, Ideato North Local Government Area, Imo State. She is the second child of Mr and Mrs Emmanuel Ugochukwu from Eziokwu Ozuakoli Urualla in Ideato North Local Government. Urualla is one of the rural communities in the state in which its inhabitants specializes mostly in Agriculture and Small Scale businesses.
As a young girl, Nkechi was born with a physical leg condition caused by lack of vitamin D which brought series of psychological abuses and rejections from peers, family members and teachers who called her ugly and told her she will not be getting married. These abuses led to her suffering of severe low self esteem and lack of self confidence.
“Based on the saying that every disappointment is a blessing in disguise”, Nkechi buried her time in reading. Books and movies became her best friends and with the knowledge acquired, she conquered low self esteem by confronting the circumstances that tends to pull her down.
At 19, she tried running an NGO that aims to help young girls overcome low self esteem, it failed due to lack of leadership qualities. Two years later, she cofounded an organization called Mind Miners Initiative into motivating young girls to become whom they really want to be. She has worked as volunteer in different local and international organizations where she focused on helping communities and individuals become the best part of them.
As a passionate girl child advocate with the goal of becoming an international girl child advocate and research consultant, Nkechi founded Center For Girl Child Research And Advocacy where she focuses on helping individuals and organizations working around gender by providing appropriate verifiable qualitative and quantitative data and also help to develop effective intervention strategies on these issues. This is aimed at eradicating gender harmful practices and abuse globally.
She hope to continue her work as a community developer with a focus on women and Girls.
