The CEO of Protection Plus Group,Dr Ubong King told the young people that gathered to take their destinies into their own hands. He said that hunger is Gods gift to man and every determined individual should work hard to become successful as everything that comes into the heart of man can be achieved. His words were full of inspiration as he went down memory lane on how he broke every record and struggled through hard times to become successful.

Wura Ogunrotimi,CEO of Africa Future Matters UK who came all the way from Edinburgh,Scotland to attend the event urged young people to remain focused as they have the key to make Africa work. She highlighted some of the reasons why young people must strive to be succesful. She encouraged women never to be intimidated by circumstances but remained committed to being the voice that would the African continent a better place for all.Her passion for young people was clearly seen in her speech delivery as she wooed Delegates with her oratory and passion.

IF CANCER HAD A FACE ” A SYMBOLIC ART PIECE BY VISIONARY OF 9JA POP ART – MR ROGER OKEWOLE

” IF CANCER HAD A FACE ” A SYMBOLIC ART PIECE BY MR ROGER OKEWOLE

This is my depiction of the disease cancer. It has been touching a lot of people in my circle. Needless to say, cancer is a scourge.

It is titled “If Cancer Had a Face”. Those aren’t eyes in its head, they are mirrors. My depiction of cancer has MANY faces and we pray that our face is never reflected in any of the mirrors.

I am trying to show the utter disregard cancer has for the forces against it. It is wearing symbols that we use to celebrate our “strength” as we “fight” it. It is tattooed and adorned with various cultural symbols of life.

I have made it horrible so as to explain the guilty relief one feels when it has finally had its way or even guiltier relief when it passes by to another. The posture shows the anarchy, power, offensiveness and violence of the disease.

Cancer does not knock. Cancer does not ask permission. It kicks the door in, sits in your seat and makes itself at home.

I hate cancer.

AFRICA DAY 2017 ORGANIZED BY THE UNIVERSAL PEACE FEDERATION

We are honoured to invite you to attend a celebration of Africa Day 2017. We are happy to share this day with our friends and partners in the event. Africa Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the achievements of a fast growing continent. There are many inspirational examples from nations like Botswana that is relatively free of corruption and has free education and health due to a growing economy based on diamonds. The family culture, (which really means the extended family) that is prevalent throughout Africa. The religosity of African people. The music and foods of different parts of the African continent, which always creates a welcoming atmosphere. The world comes to Africa for minerals and other resources. There is so much more to Africa to learn from and gain inspiration.

UPF International celebrates Africa Day each year. Several times this has been in the Manhattan Centre in New York with the former UN Secretary General, Ban, Ki-Moon. It reflects the partnership between the African Union and UPF. There will be African food, music, cultural wisdom, story-telling and clothes.

Please come and celebrate with us. Kindly register to reserve your place NOW.

POETRY CORNER – “SILENCE” WRITTEN BY INTERNATIONAL MULTI-AWARD WINNER, TIMILEYIN GABRIEL OLAJUWON

SILENCE

The days are the victims of fate

As euphoria of the “Change” we loved much

Is laid to the cemetery of the nation’s hope

Hanging on the neck of the engulfing silence…

And this silence is the panting of the market women

Gasping for life under the smiling sun,

But only to watch the dancing foots

And the echoing voices of the dead market.

This silence is the drowning tears of Work-Ass

Whose rights are right in their naked eyes

Buried in the ground of deceit and lies

And only to live in borrowed breath – breads.

The silence is the weeping of little children

Craving for happiness in the public streets

Blackened with dust of their daily toil for peanut

But are being rejected to dance to songs of penury

This silence is the agonizing agony of the aged parents

Whose fruits were plunged away unripe

Into the deadly desert of drowning destiny

Left to ponder in the desert of doubts…

This silence is SILENCE

The songs of mocking birds

Success

In

Life

Emerged

Not with

Changes a day; so

Endure.

And this silence is a war

In-between Life and Death….
