Love and Care for People in association with Women of Love are pleased to invite you to the very first Girls Summit in Ireland themed:
“Securing the Future of our Girl Children:
EndingChild/Forced Marriage and Reproductive Abuse”.
The purpose of the summit is to raise public awareness about child/forced marriage and reproductive abuse and what’s more, it is free to attend.
Child/forced marriage and Reproductive Abuse are a human right violation as it threatens the lives, future aspirations and opportunities of girls and women around the world. Annually, over 10 million girls and women are forced into a marriage before their eighteenth birthday;and some marry as young as eight.
Child/forced marriage and reproductive abuse are both the cause and consequence of gender-based violence, poverty and the unavoidable inequality that girls and women experience every day. But with access to an education, skill acquisition and training, girls and women will be able to create a better society for themselves and the world.
Speakers include:
– H.E. Olusola Iginla – Chargé d’Affaires, Embassy of Nigeria Ireland.
– Canadian Ambassador to Ireland –H.E. Kevin Vickers.
